The Matanel Employment Equality Award
Three winners were granted the Matanel Employment Equality Award
for the inclusion of people with special needs in their enterprise
In 2023, Ohel Sarah initiated the Matanel Employment Equality Award – a project
that encourages the employment of people with disabilities in the general
workforce, and creates awareness for their equal stance in the community. The
event was conducted in cooperation with the Matanel Foundation, who sponsored
the project, the Shekel Foundation and the Commission for Equal Right of Persons
with Disabilities.
The award was handed out to three employers who excelled in employing people
with various disabilities in diverse fields of work in the different sectors that make up
the unique Israeli population.
The first prize was granted to Concept for Pharmacy Ltd. For decades, this
pharmaceutical enterprise has employed people with disabilities in all its divisions,
making exceptional accommodations to suit their various needs. The second prize
was given to the Golbary fashion chain, which has been employing women with
special needs in its stores, both in customer service as well as in store maintenance.
The third prize was given to the Netanya branch of Stopmarket, a grocery store that
provides employment to people with special needs from a variety of populations
such as Arabs and Druze.
The grand event was attended by leading figures, among them First Lady Michal
Hertzog, MKs May Golan, Michal Werdinger and Moshe Abutbul, and was led by Mr.
Oren Hellman, CEO of the Israel Electric Company. Mr. Hellman is a long-time
advocate for people with special needs in the country, and a staunch supporter of
Ohel Sarah.
